Alex Eckley is the latest player to commit his future to North Wales Crusaders, signing a new contract for the 2022 campaign.
The forward joins Gav Rodden, Jordy Gibson and Matt Reid in extending their stays with the club for another season.
Eckley, who is a product of the academy system at Super League club St Helens, originally made his debut for Crusaders in 2019 as he gained experience at League 1 level.
After returning to Saints in 2020 to play for their reserve side, he was back at North Wales again ahead of the current campaign and has been hugely impressive in 2021, featuring in 12 matches so far, playing big minutes in the forwards and chipping in with a couple of tries.
On his new deal, Eckley said: “I’m buzzing, especially with how it’s gone so far this season.
“I really couldn’t say no because there’s such a great buzz around the club.
“As players, coaching staff and everyone else at the club, we’re all getting on really well as mates more than anything else.
“With the current run we’re on, it goes to show how good our players are and it’s massively important we keep hold of what we’re starting to create here.
“We’ve won seven in a row, but we still have two games left and we can’t take anything for granted in those.
“We’ve got to take each game as it comes, continue working hard and aim to finish as high up the table as we can.
“The fans coming back has been massive for us and I think you can see the impact their support has had from our results.
“All the lads really look forward to playing at home in Colwyn Bay and Muzza said to us at the start of the season that he wanted us to make it a hard place to visit.
“While that probably wasn’t the case at the start of the season when we were playing behind-closed-doors, our supporters have since been brilliant for us and made a real atmosphere at our new ground.”
