North Wales Crusaders’ latest recruit Ben Stead is looking forward to running out for the Wrexham-based side in 2019.

Stead joined North Wales Crusaders from Coventry Bears and will be reunited with former head coach Anthony Murray.

Ben last worked with Murray during his spell at Gloucestershire All Golds in 2017.

He also featured for England Universities in 2017 making the World XIII line-up as half back of the tournament at the World Cup in Australia.

On signing for North Wales Crusaders, Stead said “I’m really looking forward to be working with Anthony Murray again, he’s a great coach who I learnt a lot from during our year together at Gloucestershire All Golds.

“Secondly I’m very excited to play for such a loud and supportive fan base!

“Every time I’ve played against North Wales Crusaders, home or away, they have always brought lots of noise and passion to help their team.”

Stead added: “Anthony Murray is assembling a great team and I’m delighted to be part of it.

“I feel we can achieve big things and push towards the top teams in League One, and I think North Wales Crusaders are more than capable of doing that next season.”

Having scored three tries and kicked 61 goals for the Bears last season, the 26 year old is hoping to add something to the Crusaders squad for 2019: “I will bring experience and leadership that comes with the halfback role.

“I have 100% energy in everything I do and I have a strong kicking game in play and at goal.”
