After North Wales Crusaders’ Wrexham to Mount Kilimanjaro challenge raised more than £1,000 for Nightingale House, a further challenge completed by winger Rob Massam has added nearly £5,000 to the charity’s pot.
Crusaders’ players, coaching staff, directors and fans collectively completed 4,522 virtual miles, which is the distance to travel from Wrexham to Kilimanjaro.
North Wales winger and Wales international Massam then decided to take on his own challenge, completing 1,500 consecutive burpees live on Facebook. He’s so far raised more than £4,500 and that figure is quickly increasing.
Crusaders chief executive Andy Moulsdale said: “It’s been a fantastic effort by the whole club to raise money for Nightingale House over the last few months, but what Rob has done is incredible. It sums him up really.
“He spoke to me a few weeks ago about doing a challenge that involved his academy clients setting him a task. I’m not sure at the time whether he realised how tough this would be but, like I say, that is Rob all over.
“It’s fantastic that he has backed the club’s charity partner and the money he’s raised is so appreciated by everyone at Nightingale House. They’re blown away by what he’s done.”
