The latest player to be added to North Wales Crusaders head coach Anthony Murray’s squad for the 2021 campaign is Dante Morley-Samuels.

After making his name at League 1 level with Coventry Bears in 2018, Morley-Samuels joined Crusaders a couple of rounds into the 2019 season, making 12 appearances and scoring four tries in the process.

He extended his stay at North Wales for 2020 and made a couple of appearances in the early rounds before the campaign was cut short because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

On his new deal, Morley-Samuels said: “I’m looking forward to it. I was getting into the swing of things and then the season was cancelled.

“For me, the aim is to get a regular place in the team and stay as fit as I can. I had some niggling injuries last year so I need to stay clear of those.

“When you look at us as a team, our fitness is top notch compared to other sides so that’s something we’ve got to continue.

“We were missing experienced players like Karl Ashall at the start of 2020 season so it’ll be good to have those back by the time 2021 comes round.

“Some League 1 clubs are recruiting former Super League players so it’ll be tough, but we just need to concentrate on keeping our squad fit and we’ll do well.

“We’ve got great chemistry here so that always counts for a lot. We enjoy playing with each other and click.”

North Wales head coach Anthony Murray added: “Dante’s another good, young player who came to us from Coventry.

“He was showing glimpses of what he’s capable of so it was a shame for Dante that the season ended when it did.

“He just needs to kick on from where he left off when next season gets underway.

“He’s been playing League 1 for a couple of years now and I’ve no doubt he’s going to become an established player at this level.”
