Wales international halfback Elliott Jenkins has extended his stay at North Wales Crusaders by another season.
The 21-year-old, who impressed during his two appearances for Wales in the 2018 European Championship and World Cup Qualifiers, had two short spells with Crusaders in 2019.
He then joined on a permanent basis for 2020 and had started to strike up a solid partnership with Jordy Gibson before the season was brought to a halt.
On his new deal, Jenkins said: “I never had any doubts. I was never going anywhere else.
“I had a tough spell and had a year out from the sport, but I think I’m a good fit for the club and the club is a good fit for me.
“We’ve got a good team together and I think we raised a few eyebrows when we signed Jordy and Gav from the amateur game.
“We showed in the second-half against London exactly what we’re about. In the drier months, I think we would’ve gone really well.
“One of the conversations I had with Muzza was about whether we were going with the same squad.
“A bit of experience thrown in with us younger lads isn’t going to hurt, but it’s important we keep the majority of the squad and get ready for next season.”
North Wales head coach Anthony Murray added: “Elliott and Jordy combined really well for us. When the season started, they formed a really good partnership and understanding.
“I’m delighted he’s decided to stay. He’s a Welsh international as well so that’s always good.
“He was an international player early on in his career and still has aspirations to represent Wales.
“To be fair to him, he felt out of love with the game for one reason or another, but he joined us at Crusaders and got his appetite back.
“They all enjoy playing here and love the fans. For our club and the coaches, it’s really rewarding to play a part in that.”
