As North Wales Crusaders travel to Keighley Cougars in League 1 this weekend, we take a look at some of the memorable clashes between the two sides over the years.
Crusaders have gone head-to-head with Keighley on nine occasions in total.
Keighley Cougars 18-30 North Wales Crusaders – August 2014
With relegation from the Championship already confirmed, Crusaders secured a 30-18 win at Cougar Park in what was only their second ever meeting with Keighley.
Although performances had improved under new head coach at the time Anthony Murray, North Wales had only been picking up bonus points and were on an eight-game losing run.
Stephen Wild, Rob Massam, Scott Turner, Toby Adamson and Jono Smith all grabbed tries for Crusaders on the day.
Keighley Cougars 23-22 North Wales Crusaders – April 2015
A last-minute drop-goal from the late Danny Jones claimed Keighley a dramatic 23-22 victory over Crusaders.
Despite North Wales leading 20-12 heading into the later stages of the match, the Cougars hit back with two quick-fire tries to go ahead for the first time.
Although Tommy Johnson’s penalty goal levelled matters, Jones came up with the all-important drop-goal.
North Wales Crusaders 28-24 Keighley Cougars – February 2018 (Challenge Cup)
Crusaders scored 22 unanswered points to produce a stunning comeback and book their place in the fourth round of the Challenge Cup.
With Keighley 24-6 up at half-time, it looked like they would have an easy progression in the cup.
However, North Wales were a different beast in the second-half and Simon Atherton’s hat-trick in a 16-minute spell was the difference.
