North Wales Crusaders have agreed a new one-year deal with Matt Reid ahead of the 2021 campaign.

Reid is currently in his second spell with Crusaders, racking up more than 40 appearances to date and scoring six tries in the process.

Able to play in a number of different positions, Reid first joined North Wales back in 2013, featuring for the club in the Championship a year later.

After spending some time on loan at Coventry Bears during 2015, he joined on a permanent basis and stayed in the Midlands until 2018, signing for Oldham.

Following a single season at Oldham, Reid returned to Crusaders in 2019 and has been with the club since.

On his new deal, he said: “I’m really happy to get the deal over the line.

“We’re pretty much starting the season again as we’d only played a couple of games.

“We’ve all had a full pre-season together so there won’t be that bedding in period ahead of 2021.

“I’ve just got over my last lot of injuries so the aim for me is to keep injury free.

“The great thing about our squad at the minute is that we’ve got a lot of players under the age of 25.

“We’ve also got a few players from the amateur game and having those relatively unknown players can make a big difference.

“I’m looking forward to next season and seeing what we can do.”

North Wales head coach Anthony Murray added: “Matt’s got a lot of experience at this level now and is somebody who knows the club well.

“He provides us with a lot of options and, if he can keep himself injury free, will continue to be an important player for us.

“The squad is coming together nicely ahead of 2021.”
