Jordy Gibson is the latest player to extend his stay at North Wales Crusaders by another year.
The 28-year-old made the step up from the amateur ranks ahead of the 2020 campaign, joining Crusaders from local side Haydock.
He has represented Lancashire on a number of occasions previously, taking part in a tour of Serbia in 2019.
Before the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic put the 2020 season on hold, Gibson had impressed in a Crusaders shirt, scoring in the League 1 win at London Skolars and setting up a number of other tries in his four appearances to date.
On his new deal at North Wales, Gibson said: “I’m really looking forward to next year as we were all obviously disappointed how this season ended with the pandemic.
“I know the way Muzza wants us to play now so I won’t have that period next season where I’ve got to learn new systems.
“Stepping up from the amateur game, it was a bit of an eye opener at first, but I soon got used to it.
“We’d started the season really well so it was a shame it ended when it did.
“If we keep the same lads for next season and perhaps add a couple more, I think we’ll do really well.”
Crusaders head coach Anthony Murray added: “When you’ve got a halfback stepping up from the amateur game at 27, they’re going to be battle hardened.
“He would’ve been used to taking knocks and had played plenty of representative rugby league as well.
“It was great to see Jordy get an opportunity and you could see what he was capable of straightaway.
“He’s really committed to the sport and I’m delighted he’s decided to stay with us for 2021.”
