As North Wales Crusaders travel to London Skolars for their third round Challenge Cup tie on Sunday, we take a look at some of the memorable clashes between the two sides over the years.
Crusaders and Skolars have come head-to-head on 12 occasions in all competitions since 2012.
North Wales Crusaders 42-22 London Skolars – July 2013 (Northern Rail Bowl final)
The Wrexham side picked up their first piece of silverware as a club by beating Skolars in the Northern Rail Bowl final at the Shay in Halifax.
With the score level at 16-16 at half-time, there was little to choose between the sides for the majority of the match.
However, Crusaders showed their quality late on and they did enough to clinch the trophy.
London Skolars 14-20 North Wales Crusaders – August 2013 (League 1)
Toby Adamson’s try on the hour mark sealed a victory for Crusaders that ultimately played a big part in the club securing promotion to the Championship later down the line.
A curtain raiser to the Challenge Cup final as Friday Night Lights, this was an enthralling encounter between two sides who’d been at the top end of League 1 throughout the season.
North Wales had a slender 12-8 advantage at half-time and, despite Skolars pegging them back, they managed to dig deep and secure the two points.
North Wales Crusaders 24-24 London Skolars – February 2018 (League 1)
Mike Bishay kicked a late Skolars penalty with only nine seconds left on the clock to grab them a draw in Wrexham.
Crusaders led 18-12 at half-time and built on their advantage after the break, looking good for the win.
However, London hit back to trail by just two points and Bishay didn’t hesitate to tag on the two points when they were awarded a penalty.
Although Crusaders are in cup action this weekend, the League 1 campaign resumes the following week as Crusaders host Hunslet at Queensway Stadium on March 17.
