North Wales Crusaders have signed James Tilley on a deal until the end of the 2019 season.

Tilley came through the system at St Helens, winning player of the year awards in the various age groups he played in.

The 25-year-old made his Super League debut for Saints back in 2013, featuring for the first-team on a couple of occasions.

Tilley, who can play in a number of different positions in the forwards, gained further experience at first-team level with Rochdale Hornets in both the Championship and League 1.

He was most recently on the books of Whitehaven, featuring for the club heavily in 2017 and 2018.

Crusaders head coach Anthony Murray said: “James came through a good system at St Helens and has played at the highest level.

“He’s been in and around League 1 for a number of years and will give us plenty of options in the forwards.”

Like Elliott Jenkins, Tilley will come straight into contention for Saturdays’ Welsh derby with West Wales Raiders.
