Kenny Baker has been named as North Wales Crusaders’ captain for the 2019 season, with Karl Ashall as his vice captain.
The forward stepped up from the amateur game to sign for Crusaders back in 2016 and has impressed ever since.
In his two-and-a-half seasons with North Wales to date, Baker has already racked up 62 appearances, crossing for 23 tries in the process.
Ashall, meanwhile, returned to Crusaders last season for his second spell at the club and boasts plenty of experience at League 1 level and higher.
Crusaders head coach Anthony Murray said: “I’m really pleased with my leadership team for the 2019 season.
“We brought Kenny in a couple of years ago and he’s been fantastic. He’s showed everybody what he’s capable of.
“Karl’s a great professional and a real leader so he’ll work well alongside Kenny.
“We’ve also got Stephen Wild to call on when he plays. He’s played at the highest level for a long time and is a fantastic leader.”
Crusaders get their League 1 campaign underway tomorrow as they travel to Workington Town.
The opening home match of the season is against Oldham on March 3 and #CHALLENGE800 has been launched. Get involved as we aim to get at least 800 fans down at Queensway Stadium to cheer on the lads.
